Northern Flicker...

We often have the red-headed woodpecker in the trees outside our barn, but last month was the first time I had seen the northern flicker here. It is another type of woodpecker that is quite common throughout Indiana - and most of the US, too.

 It was very still, listening to the ground.

 It's another lovely bird.
