Another Common Walk...

Riaan and I left the girls to rest and went to my parent's house on Sunday, 26th December. Here Mom and Dad (and Flicka) joined Riaan and I in going for a lovely walk on the Rondebosch Common again. Lindsay and Nina joined us, too, and we walked across to the dump - an area where discarded items from past military camps can still be found protruding out of molehills. Having explored this area, we walked across to the cemetery trees (where an old graveyard is - although the gravestones have long since disappeared) and then headed back through the pine forest. Here are some more photos from our afternoon stroll. :)

Area fenced off - undergoing fynbos (indigenous vegetation) rehabilitation.

Pied crow.
Fiscal shrike keeps watch.
The tall Norfolk Pine - at the bottom of Norfolk Lane - is visible here.
Rhodes Memorial on the slopes of Devil's Peak.
Flicka enjoys the shade of the bushes.
Walking through the dump area.
Spider's nest.
Pretty flowers emerge from an area scorched by a recent fire.
A pair of juvenile rufous-breasted sparrowhawks on the ground.
The parent watches from the trees above.
