Hannah and Jeremiah's Wedding...

Candace's sister, Hannah, got married two weeks ago on the 15th of September. Candace was the Matron of Honour while Riaan was also in the wedding, as the sign-bearer. Eliza was a special guest and I was the first to walk down the aisle carrying little Eliza to her seat. :) We really enjoyed the ceremony and the reception afterwards was quite lovely. We wish Hannah and Jeremiah all the best as they embark on this new adventure together! :)

 With my special girl. :)
And there's my special boy! :)

Riaan ran down the aisle holding his sign. He did a great job!

Reading and Rugby...

Nothing quite like being outside and reading The Chronicles of Narnia as a family together. This book series is one our favourites and we're excited that Riaan is taking an interest, too. We then enjoyed some quality rugby-bonding time together!

Lovely late evening family fun!

Autumn Rains...

We've had some rainy days this past month, as autumn finally arrives here in southern Indiana. The heavens suddenly opened while I was at work recently, and the road in front of the Pharmacy became a river. It was amazing how fast the rain arrived and how rapidly the weather outside deteriorated!

It was a very dreary afternoon!

Pretty Rainbow...

A beautiful rainbow stretched across the sky earlier this month. It's a good reminder of God's love for us. :)

There is a double rainbow just visible.

Flowering Moon Flowers...

There were three unopened moon flower blooms early one evening. And, true to form, they opened overnight and were in full flower the next morning. :)

 The unopened flowers...
... Are open the next morning! :)

Contrasting Water Birds...

The small and dainty lesser yellow legs is contrasted with the much larger, clumsy-looking great blue heron in these few photos. Both of these water birds are frequent visitors to the pond behind the barn. :)

The lesser yellow legs is a lovely little bird.
It can often be seen wading along the shore in the early evening.
The great blue heron can also be seen looking for tasty morsels in the early evening light.
It is a majestic bird - especially when spotted in flight.

Wolf Spider with Young...

I was at my in-law's house the other night when I came across this spider scurrying through the grass. It is a female wolf spider carrying her young on her back! It is the only species of spider that carries its young on the abdomen. It was really interesting to watch as it went about its business - and I was disappointed that I didn't have my proper camera with me!

 Scuttling through the grass.
Size perspective. We put her safely back on the ground after the photo. :)

The Cherry Ghost on a Friday Night...

The Cherry Ghost Coffee House is the place to be on Friday nights in Washington, Indiana. Our family enjoys relaxing at this special coffee shop in the local community. They often have musicians playing music and the second Friday of every month is our favourite, Irish Music! A couple of weeks ago we spent the evening listening to talented friends. :) It was a great evening!

A brief snippet of the lovely atmosphere of the Cherry Ghost. :)

Terre Haute Air Show...

Candace was busy with her sister's bachelorette party on Saturday 18th August, and so Riaan and I had a boy's day out. We drove up to Terre Haute Regional Airport for the Terre Haute Air Show. Unfortunately, we spent several hours sitting in traffic and standing in long queues waiting for buses to take us from the parking to the venue, but once we were at the airport we had a great time! There were many amazing aeroplanes on static display and the aerial manoeuvres of the jets and fighters flying overhead was simply breathtaking. The final act of the day was the United States Navy's Blue Angels display team, and they were magnificent to watch! Riaan loved it!

We then headed back to the bus drop-off/pick-up point, but as there were so many people cutting the line and a huge sense of disorganisation, I decided to walk the five kilometres (three miles) back to the car, pushing (the now fast asleep) Riaan in his little stroller. We were back at the car by 18h00 and then drove home, stopping at a quaint little ice-cream shop for a bite to eat and a treat for Riaan, who was wonderfully well-behaved and patient throughout a rather trying day at times.

Moon Flower...

Although not indigenous to this area, we have a moon flower plant that has appeared in the flower bed outside our front door. The flowers open during the early evening and are finished by the early morning. The actual flowers only last for about a day before they droop and die - soon to be replaced by the next flower. They are quite striking! :)

The beautiful white flower. :)
