Angel Mounds State Historic Site...

We are part of a local home-school educator’s group, and they organise field trips for children who are being home-schooled in the area. We joined them and went to Angel Mounds State Historic Site on Wednesday, 23rd March. (I was off work and able to accompany Candace and the children this day.)

Angel Mounds was the site of a Mississippian village that was there between 1100 and 1450 AD. We were able to walk around the mounds – where prominent buildings and structures were located - and we explored the museum and visitor's centre. Archeologists have conducted digs and research here and so we were able to see some of their finds here too.

The children enjoyed a picnic lunch and loved being able to explore this historic site!
