Father's Day 2022...

It was a rather different Father's Day weekend for us this year, as severe storms rolled through on the Friday morning and knocked several large branches of our maple tree down. We spent much of the weekend clearing up branches and repairing our damaged fence. We were thankful for our friends who came and helped us with cutting up the branches. On the bright side, we now have lots of firewood for the next while!

Father's Day was a rather relaxing day, as I went for a cycle ride first-thing in the morning and then we enjoyed a Hobbit's breakfast for lunch. We spent lots of lovely family time in the garden and went to the park for a nice walk in the afternoon. We also video-chatted my family in Cape Town during the day and visited Candace's parents to spend some time there later in the day. :)

The storm rolled in with severe wind gusts, but not too much heavy rain here.
It caused a real mess in our back garden. This was after we had begun clearing and moving branches.
We were thankful for friends who came and helped clear and cut up branches.
Lots of firewood for plenty of future braais and bonfires!
We made the kids a teepee to play in with some of the smaller branches.
We even had a tea party inside the teepee!
Visiting the park. I love these people!
Northern-banded water snake.
Family of Canada geese.
Mallard ducks.
Purple martin.
I ended the day with yummy avo on toast!
