Earth Day Adventures 2023...

This year, we celebrated Earth Day as a family and drove down to Evansville. We visited Wesselman Woods for the afternoon, where there were Earth Day displays and activities. We also hiked a wooded trail through this ancient forest and had a lovely time enjoying the beauty of creation. :) I love the lush green colours of spring!

Delicious shawarmas for lunch.
The Nature Centre.
Eliza the Tortoise!
Riaan meets a corn snake...
While Anya was captivated by the common snapping turtle!
Hiking in the forest.
So thankful for outdoor areas where you can still get lost.
A windthrow is where a storm has blown a tree over, and the roots and soil have been pulled out, too.
Trillium.
Fungi with a touch of green and blue. It almost looked oily in appearance.
Pretty purple flowers.
Walking along a straight path, heading back to the Nature Centre.
The storms that rolled through on March 31st also knocked over trees in this area.
The small plants that were growing next to this fallen tree have had to adapt to a strange angle!
Bald eagle.
Box turtles. My favourite Indiana reptile!
