One of Cape Town's Christmas traditions is Carols by Candlelight at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. Thousands of people go to Kirstenbosch to have a picnic dinner on the lovely sloping lawn. Then, as night approaches, they enjoy watching the Nativity play and singing Christmas carols together. It is quite a sight to see all the Glow-sticks (Candles have been banned due to the risk of fires) swaying this way and that as the carols are sung!
